Layers of a rhubarb-strawberry pate de fruit, gingerbread ganache, and an almond praline with traditional Christmas flavours.

About Black Star Pastry
Black Star Pastry opened its first bakery in 2008 in colourful and unconventional Newtown, a vibrant inner-Sydney neighbourhood with a thriving music, theatre, design and restaurant scene. The Newtown store, no more than a side street nook, quickly established itself as a local favourite, pumping out pies and coffee for those in the know.
Then the Strawberry Watermelon Cake happened. Originally developed as just a one-off for a wedding, in 2011 it was served in store and quickly rose to fame – being declared as “the world’s most Instagrammed cake”. By early 2013, 300 metre queues outside of the Newtown store became common sight as the Strawberry Watermelon Cake captured international attention.
After expanding to four Sydney stores in subsequent years, a series of pop-ups in Melbourne, Hong Kong, Singapore and Japan were met with a frenzy of interest as local pastry fans got their first taste of Black Star's culinary creations. In 2019, Black Star Pastry opened its first permanent outpost in St Kilda, Melbourne, with a second Melbourne store (Chadstone) opening in late-2021. At the same time, Black Star Pastry also embarked on its first international expansion, with a flagship Shanghai store opening in December 2022.
Today, over one million slices of Black Star Pastry's original cakes are served each year. And this is just the beginning.
