Paris-based fashion brand Maison Kitsune started as a music label in 2002 before moving into fashion, design and most recently, cafes. With flagship cafes in Paris and Tokyo, its culinary concept stores blend French and Japanese influences. In 2018 its Café Kitsuné concept came to Sydney for the first time, popping up at Articifer Coffee Bar in Surry Hills.
Café Kitsuné came with its full range of cult beverages, including its fan-favourites iced matcha latte, and iced yuzu. Café Kitsuné invited some of Sydney's famed food brands along, with Brickfields, Messina and Black Star Pastry producing a range of limited-edition treats, headlined by a mango yuzu cake from Black Star Pastry and a green tea-ramisu gelato from Messina. There was also a Café Kitsuné gingerbread and shortbread cookie (baked by Black Star Pastry) in the shape of the brand’s signature fox, and Black Star’s revered watermelon cake centre stage on the counter.
Kistuné devotees and festive-season shoppers can browse Café Kitsuné’s new range of tableware, ready-to-wear and accessories, which launched in Paris, Tokyo and Seoul earlier this year and are being made available in Australia for the first time.
The Café Kitsuné pop up made its home at Surry Hills cafe Artificer from November 28 to December 21, 2018.
